My Journey Restoring a 1967 Ford Mustang

21 Jul, 2026 1 min read 460 views

Two years ago, I purchased a barn-find 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. Here's the story of bringing this classic back to life.

The Discovery

I found the car listed on a local classifieds site. It had been sitting in a barn for over 20 years, covered in dust and surrounded by old farm equipment.

The Teardown

Every nut and bolt was removed, cataloged, and either restored or replaced. The frame was media-blasted and powder-coated.

Engine Rebuild

The original 289 V8 was completely rebuilt with modern internals while maintaining the stock appearance. We added an Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor.

Interior

New seat covers, door panels, and carpet were sourced from a quality reproduction supplier. The dashboard was restored with original-style gauges.

First Start

After 18 months of work, the moment finally came. The engine roared to life and the exhaust note echoed through the garage. It was worth every late night and weekend.

On the Road

The finished car drives like new. The combination of classic styling and refreshed mechanicals makes it a joy to drive on weekend cruises.
